Pacific Music Awards 2007 Finalists Announced

Spacifix nabs three spots; five artists each gain two finals berths
The finalists for the 2007 Pacific Music Awards have been announced and Spacifix leads the field with three spots followed by a bunch of artists who get two nods.
Hailing from West Auckland, Spacifix is a finalist for Best Pacific Music Album for the debut album Much Love, Best Pacific Group and Best Pacific Song for Gotta Get Like This.
Artists with two finals berths are Ill Semantics, John Chong-Nee, PNC, Aaradhna and Vaniah Toloa. Vaniah Toloa and Amene are up for the Best Pacific Album category for "Tukua" and "In Your Name We Pray" respectively.
The winner of the Best Pacific Album receives the Tui (New Zealand Music Award) at the Pacific Music Awards on May 31 and is acknowledged at the New Zealand Music Awards 2007 in October.

Pacific Music Awards Committee spokesperson, Rev. Mua Strickson Pua says: "Pacific Music Awards gets stronger and stronger. This year it was an achievement to be a finalist. If you look through the nominations it also reads as a list of previous NZ Music award recipients and who's who of our Music industry.

RIANZ chief executive Campbell Smith says the music industry is proud to present the Best Music Album at the Pacific Music Awards. "It's a great event that's getting stronger every year," he says.
The 2007 Pacific Music Awards are to be presented at the TelstraClear Pacific venue on May 31 in Manukau City.
For only the second year, the Pacific Music Awards is a stand-alone event and members of the public are able to buy tickets to the show.
