It's a worrying trend that promoters in NZ seem to be starting to expect punters to pay for their drinks in advance (beer tokens, beer charge cards, pieces of string) but won't refund any unused credit. This when coupled with extraordinarily long queues with the resulting delays has caused some consternation for Amplifier staff at 2 events already this year.

On the flip side bouquets go out to the organisers of Auckland's Zoo Music gigs. Amplifier went along on Saturday night to see Sola Rosa, Anika Moa and Lisa Crawley. The huge crowd were treated to a fantastic night and we look forward to attending a couple more of the current series of gigs.

Punters are people too - cater for your crowd and treat them like welcome guests.

Speaking of festivals for those embarking to Splore this weekend you can grab a map and timetable for the festival from here

I Am Giant is a new band comprising of two New Zealanders Shelton Woolright from Blindspott (drums) and Paul Matthews from Stylus and Tadpole (bass) and two Londoners Max O'Donnell (guitar) and Ed Martin (vocals). They're about to embark on a Nationwide tour kicking off with this weekend's Homegrown Festival.

Live music not your thing... fair enough, here's some recorded music for your consideration;

The Enright House fantastic remix of The Mint Chicks as found on soundcloud thanks to The Phoenix Foundation's twitter feed.

Song Of The Day:
Kids Of 88 - Just A Little Bit

New wave/electro duo Kids Of 88, who describe their music as "a cross between a late 80s police drama intro theme and a sophisticated super hussy"

Just A Little Bit is the follow up to their hit My House.
